In tiefe Trauer hüllt uns die Nachricht. Martin Büsser ist tot!
Er erlag seinem Krebsleiden, das ihn selbst überrascht hatte. Martin behalten wir als einen akribischen Popkritiker in Erinnerung, dem es nie nur darum ging seine Helden abzufeiern. Immer war er auch den Mechanismen auf der Spur, die sich dahinter oder mitten drin abspielten. Er galt als einer der bedeutensten Poptheoretiker unserer Tage. Nicht nur seine Texte sondern auch seine Gegenwart werden wir vermissen.
In unserer Initiative I Can´t Relax In Deutschland war Martin Büsser eine tragende Figur, der die Kritik am Nationalismus in der deutschen Popkultur engagiert und ohne kommerzielle Absichten über Podiumsdiskussionen, Lesungen und Vorträgen forcierte.
Wo Kultur als Primat aufgefasst wird, losgelöst von Zivilisation als Bekenntnis zur Freiheit Aller und zur Verbesserung allgemeiner Lebensbedingungen, kann sie jederzeit zur Durchsetzung elitärer Interessen missbraucht werden, ganz gleich, ob sich diese Elite nun als Stand, Volk oder Nation definiert.
